STOP PRESS -- Federal Budget News !!! -- 14 May 2008

Good news from the budget is that the $8000.00 rebate for the installation of Grid Connect  solar systems still stands, with the new provision that this rebate will now not be available if combined family taxable income is above $100,000.00 per annum which is in line with the means test applied to Solar Hot Water rebates.

The Minister for the Environment Peter Garrett has also announced up to 200,000 low interest loans will be made available to improve the energy and water efficiency of homes, these loans will be up to $10,000.00 and are expected to be paid back at the maximum rate of 2 per cent of annual gross income, with a minimum of $300.00 per year.
